We have established a strategic partnership with the Rotary Club of Castel Sant’Elmo from Rotary District 2101. Together, we are launching a joint fundraising campaign to support a positive peace initiative, helping women’s organizations in Ukraine and Sudan.
Inspired by the positive peace pillars of well-functioning government and equitable distribution of resources, we have decided to help these women’s organizations living in war conditions, giving them hope for the future by starting now to work on positive peace. Both Rotary and SAGAPS believe positive peace represents the attitudes, institutions, and structures that statistically correlate to peaceful societies — the factors that permit peace to last once violence ceases and that can prevent violence from erupting in the first place.
Therefore, we aim to prepare women to play a bigger role in the pillar of well-functioning government by delivering high-quality public and civil services, which are more trustworthy due to the participation of stronger women from Ukraine and Sudan.
Through our discussions and the capacity building of women leaders participating in this seminar, we intend to contribute to ensuring equity in access to resources such as education and health, and to a lesser extent, equity in income distribution. The aim of the seminars is to agree on a standard curriculum to support the education and empowerment of women in peace and security. This “standard educational curriculum” will then be disseminated by our Sudanese and Ukrainian women leaders in their home countries.
