Women Against War Sudanese Organization

Women Against War is a social peacebuiding organization comprised of Sudanese women from different parts of the world who share a common cause: we reject the war and violence that has overtaken our country and we unite in our efforts towards a peaceful society. Despite being the most affected by the war, we recognize the importance and strength of our role so we believe it is our national responsibility to fight for peace. All citizens of our nation have the right to live in peace and safety, to live a decent life in a free and democratic homeland, so we emphatically declare our rejection of the shameful war that kills daughters and sons, destroying our honorable homeland, and we condemn the parties seeking to continue it.

We also stress the need to stop the fighting, destruction, and violations against civilians

Since the outbreak of fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces on Saturday, April 15, 2023, hundreds of civilians have been killed. The violence has impeded the treatment of the wounded, the injured, and the sick from reaching hospitals, most of which are now out of service.  All of this has led to the terrible deterioration in the health situation.  In addition, the power and water outages in most neighborhoods in the cities as a result of the damages to these vital facilities, increased the suffering of citizens and many bridges and main streets have been closed, leading to miscommunication and isolation.  Many have been victims of the war inside their own homes or outside, while searching for help.

In light of this humanitarian catastrophe, we demand the following:

First, an immediate cease-fire without conditions. Secondly, a truce that will allow the opening of safe passages to help the stranded, transfer the injured to hospitals, secure them, provide for their needs, and guarantee the presence of medical personnel.
